The series of animated paintings with accompanying music, derive from the most recent artistic period of Martin Avsenik. Animated paintings accompanied by music represent the upgrade of the conceived concept of digital paintings as colourful light surfaces. These animated paintings are created with the help of computer programs for visual creation and new technologies that combine sound and moving image. They allow and enable the artist a new, more flexible way of creating artistic images and presentations.
In these works the artist made a great step forward by exposing the connection between sound and visual language, both in equilibrium connections and in harmony with the construction of the artistic language. The artist Avsenik has designed unique products to display his animated paintings. The main element of the products is a display surface (projection or LED screens), which makes it possible to achieve the most optimal lighting settings, colour range, colour contrast, and ideally illustrates the movement of colours and shapes in their narratives.
While creating animated paintings, the basic question of the time of creation and the duration of the painting arises, which in classical painting can not be perceived and or even understood.
By animating the digital painting (animated painting), which is accompanied by sound or with a music record adapted to the painting itself, the painting's real time is achieved, and therefore the basic condition for exploring the relationship between the picture and the music, which is composed according to the animation, is settled.
The language of sound with components such as musical notes and dynamics suggests to the viewer a perception of colours, shapes and textures of the visual language, and vice versa.
In this way the viewer of an animated painting, who is also its listener, achieves and is inspired by more various feelings in experiencing art than when observing a classical painting.
The contact between viewer and animated painting is primarily longer. For the perfect understanding of the painting time is a necessary component, since viewing the painting from the beginning to the end of its presentation is a must. The intensity of perception is stronger due to the accompanying music and added light effects to painting itself. Since both visual and auditory senses are activated, the memory of experiencing is more prolonged than usual for any individual.
The images of digital and animated paintings substantively represent an abstract experience as a reflection of the material and spiritual space, in which the individual's reality, consciousness, thoughts and feelings are being captured. They represent the expression of a human as an integral being, who combines in itself different layers of consciousness. Human layers of consciousness are located in different spaces and at different times, which gives them the importance of multi-dimensionality.
Despite the innovative artistic approach, digital and animated paintings maintain a connection with tradition, since the basic painting concept follows the artist's past periods, which the author upgrades with the possibilities of the present time.
