The beginnings of the gallery activities date back 3 decades. In 1989 the Avsenik Gallery in Begunje was opened with an art exhibition by a Slovenian painter Maksim Gaspari. The gallery was managed by Martin Avsenik and was successfully led by him, often in collaboration with art historian and critic Tatjana Pregl Kobe.

In 1994 Brigita Avsenik took over the management of the Avsenik Gallery. Under her auspices and organisation, the numerous solo exhibitions, art workshops and fine art colonies on the theme of Avsenik's music were featured in the gallery for the next two decades. After the death of Brigita Avsenik in 2017 the gallery in Begunje closed its doors.

In the Avsenik Gallery in Begunje numerous domestic and foreign artists such as Jože Šubic, Maksim Gaspari, Ivan Generalič, Josip Generalič, Janez Boljka, France Slana, Domen Slana, Dora Plestenjak, Jože Trobec, Manolisto Thomakakis, Martin Avsenik, Giani Borta, Klavdij Tutta, Klementina Golja, Matjaž Učakar, Dieter Meier, Ferdo Maier, Josef Apportin, Franz Berger, Robert Primig, Kiar Meško, Jaka Torkar, Marjan Tršar, Lojze Spacal and many others were exhibiting at that time. Also organized were exhibitions by Dutch painters, by great art masters of the 20th century, by the La Roggia Art Society and by the Cultural and Artistic Association of dr. Jože Kraigher.

With our wish to make art and artworks more accessible to people and the general public both in Slovenia and outside our borders, we transferred selected artworks from the previous gallery to our online art gallery, which is available on the new and updated website of the Ars Studio Avsenik company, which also operates with gallery activities.

Artworks by authors from the 20th century predominate in our gallery collection. These artists created in techniques like oil, acrylic, graphics, screen printing and aquarelle.
