France Gorše was a Slovenian sculptor and an artist. He was born in 1897 in Zamostec. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he graduated with prof. Ivan Mešterović in 1925. He was a secretary of the Association of Slovenian Fine Artists. In 1936 he co-founded the magazine "Umetnost" with the editor Maleš. At the time of the 2nd world war he opened a private art school in Ljubljana. After the war, he taught at the Slovenian gymnasium in Trieste. Soon he moved to America, where he spent 2 decades. After returning home, he opened an atelier and a permanent collection of his artworks in Carinthia, which he after his death left in the will to the Slovenian Educational Society Kočna in Sveče. He died in 1986 at Golnik.
