Maksim Sedej Jr. was a Slovenian painter, a poet and an essayist. He was born in 1935 in Ljubljana. He obtained a basic art education from his father Maksim Sedej Sr., who was a painter, a graphic and an illustrator. For his work they say it has a distinctive intellectual charge, colorfully linked to the surrealistic imagination. He was the first to establish abstract painting in Slovenia. In 1985 he founded the journal ‘Fiction Words’ and he was its first editor. He published the book Four Faces of the Soul and a poetry collection Space in the Casket. He received the Župančič prize for his work. He died in 2014 in Ljubljana.
