Rudolf Španzel is a Slovenian academic painter and graphic artist. He was born in 1948 in Zabukovica. After graduation with professor Sedej at ALU in Ljubljana, he did a specialization in painting with professor Bernik and for graphics with professors Debenjak and Pogačnik. He creates by the principles of Renaissance artists. As a repeatedly award-winning artist he exhibited all over the world. He is also the author of portraits of ex Slovenian tolar banknotes. He is the honorary citizen of the municipality of Žalec. As a freelance artist he creates and lives in Ljubljana.
